Supporting the next generation’s STEAM specialists
Whether it’s sponsoring sports teams or welcoming work experience placements from nearby universities, Corilla Plastics is always looking for opportunities to support the local community.
Recently, Corilla Plastics had the chance to get involved with The Learning Partnership – an organisation which works to increase engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) subjects in schools. The Learning Partnership helps to develop relationships between schools and local businesses, in order to promote accessibility to STEAM resources.
Corilla Plastics is sponsoring five South Wales schools, enabling them to take part in The Learning Partnership’s ‘Build to the Line’ initiative. Each school will receive a project pack from The Learning Partnership, so that the students can try their hands at designing and building a functional bridge.
It is important that students have the chance to get hands-on with STEAM projects, and Build to the Line encourages them to do just that.
Aulden Dunipace, Founder and CEO of The Learning Partnership, said: “We’re very pleased to be working with Corilla Plastics to help give students in South Wales the chance to experience STEAM projects first-hand. We know that children love getting involved with Build to the Line, so hopefully we can begin to inspire the next generation of engineers!”
Some of the Corilla Plastics team have children attending the participating schools, making the project all the more special.
Selwyn Jones, Managing Director at Corilla Plastics, commented: “Build to the Line is a fantastic opportunity for students to have some fun, learn new skills and ultimately get a taste of what a career in engineering or a similar STEAM pathway might be like. We can’t wait to see how the children get on, and I’m sure we’ll have a few proud parents in the team!”
Corilla Plastics will be following the schools’ progress closely and scoping out the next generation’s engineering talent!
